Dear 1994 Sam Anderson: Hello. It’s me, 2024 Sam Anderson – you from the future, exactly 30 years from now. To put it in terms you’ll understand: We’re trying to swing on the flippity flop, but we’re living in a harsh realm. And — the biggest miracle of all — you have a stable, loving, long-term marriage. You have just now seen it, on your first date with Sarah from math class.

Vera Drew never received a cease-and-desist letter. She would like to be very clear on that point. Unless, that is, a filmmaker receives a letter from Warner Bros. “This letter was actually kind of complimentary, but it expressed their concern that the film infringed on their brand,” Drew said. I was like, ‘No, I got a passport for this!

CNN —Daniel Radcliffe and his long-term partner, actress Erin Darke, have had their first child. Scott Boute, a representative for Radcliffe, confirmed the birth to CNN on Wednesday, after the Daily Mail published photographs of the couple pushing a pram in New York earlier this week. The baby’s sex and date of birth haven’t been disclosed. While promoting his role in “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” last year, Radcliffe told Newsweek that he would love his kids to experience “wonderful” film sets – but without the fame. He shot to instant fame with the 2001 release of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,” the first in what became a blockbuster eight-movie franchise.

Weird Al Yankovic Found Stardom by Finding His People

This was in 1966, when guitar rock was all the rage, yet Mr. Yankovic’s parents went for the squeezebox. This choice did not help a young Mr. Yankovic shake his reputation for nerdiness, but it may be why he gets to be Weird Al, whose offbeat parodies of popular songs have sold over 12 million albums and won five Grammy Awards. “The accordion was kind of the spark that got it all happening,” Mr. Yankovic, 63, says from the back of his tour bus between gigs in Florida. Demento.” “Dr. That perked up his interest,” Mr. Yankovic says.
Weird Al, known for taking famous pop and rock songs and sending them up by rewriting the lyrics. It began as a fake movie trailer that director Eric Appel made in 2013 as a sketch for Funny or Die. It featured Aaron Paul, Olivia Wilde, Gary Cole, Mary Steenburgen, Patton Oswalt and yes, Weird Al. Yankovic noted that the day after the trailer came out, “if you did a Google search for Weird Al, the first thing is, ‘Did Weird Al date Madonna?’ Everybody wanted to know. 'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story' review

CNN —“Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” certainly earns its title, operating, appropriately, not as an actual movie biography but an outlandish parody of one, filled with comedy cameos and bizarre flights of fancy. The amusing conceit behind the entire project – expanding upon a spoof movie trailer released in 2010 – is that a Weird Al biopic functions like one of his chart-topping songs, taking the form of the genre but turning it on its head. Directed by Eric Appel (who produced the aforementioned short, and shares script credit with Yankovic, who also has a cameo), “Weird” is produced through the folks at Funny or Die. Yet even allowing for the fact that “Weird” isn’t much more than a snack, as the man in question sang, just eat it. “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” premieres November 4 on the Roku Channel.
When people think of "Weird Al" Yankovic, they usually think of comedic takes on hit songs from his heyday in the 1980s and 1990s. But in the upcoming “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story,” actor Daniel Radcliffe plays a very exaggerated version of Yankovic, who quite often appears shirtless on screen. "I'm shirtless more as 'Weird Al' than as anything I’ve done since 'Equus,'" Radcliffe said in a recent interview, referring to his post-"Harry Potter" Broadway stint for which he had to strip naked on stage. In February 2019, Yankovic reached out to Appel to begin developing what would become "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story," which debuts on The Roku Channel on Friday. "my favorite gag from weird al’s biopic is how daniel radcliffe is ripped and constantly shirtless for no reason," one Twitter user wrote.
